    Re: Need an estimate....

How the heck does he have 1975 drivers made in 1998? He has to be talking about frams. He doesn't write clearly.

I would figure top dollar at 400 for the horns, 300 for the boxes, and 100 for the xovers. Zero for the crap woofers. those are the less desirable MI crossovers.

But I don't pay top dollar.

Bear in mind even buying 418 frames and having GPA make 416's out of them, you will have over 1200 in a set needing cosmetic work. You can get sets for that regularly. I would want a deal if I gotta fix them. I wouldn't pay much above his opening bid.

    Those are not Tangerines BTW

I could get horns/xovers for 500-550, another 350 in a pair of 418 to 416's, and build boxes. I could have Tangerines and boxes braced like I want for less.

    Better yet build custom crossovers.

    Re: Need an estimate....

If you are considering augmenting the low end, you can put 421 woofers in there vs. the 416's and have money left over for the bass unit(s) and amp(s) .
Nothing like a great big pair of speakers to make your day.

+1 First like OG says it has a symbiotik Driver/diaphragm and the 809 Xo's not to mention the rat shack woofers.IMHO the money is in the horns and cabs and the HF drivers once diaphragm is replaced with an all aluminum Tangential compliance Fram !!! I'm so sorry I don't have better news for you Nip ! If they had 416"s in them you could figure a G or more. But don't get me wrong if you have some parts laying around like a lot of us I'm sure you can turn them into something nice.Voice of the Llama just restored a pair that look Fabulous with a little elbow grease and determination you can accomplish anything !

With a little work you can turn them in to a nice pair of A7's

Best of Luck with it !

BTW - Are you the buyer or seller here ?

    Re: Need an estimate....

Pano bought a set way nicer than those off some old geezer for less than that opening bid. They needed work, but the point is deals are out there.

What area are you in? Will keep my eyes peeled.

    Very close to you OG.

    Thanks for everyones input.
I am neither the buyer or seller. I realized they need a LOT of work, hence the "as they are". I knew you guys would catch the problems.

Personally, I thought the Radio Shack woofer thing was sacrilegious.

I was thinking they might be worth the trouble IF all the original parts are working well and I could pick them up for $600.00 or less.

What about the spare set of HF drivers? (did I read that correct?) If there's a set of extra Altec HF drivers, then $500-$600 would be a good price for me if it was a local pickup.

$600 is opening bid with the reserve price not met.So the reserve can be anything above that, and considerably higher. We just don't know the cost yet.
